Several Scouts from the Troop have participated in this in past years.  It's an excellent opportunity to earn merit badges with hand on exposure led by counselors in the industry of the merit badge subject.  There are two sessions, one classroom and one a field trip.  Examples of the field trips are going to the control tower and flight simulator classroom at Daniel Webster College for Aviation merit badge.  Going the the nuclear reactor at U Lowell for the Nuclear Science merit badge or going to the geology lab at U Lowell for Geology merit badge.

Scouting for Food

Posted on Nov 3 2013 - 8:22am

Scouting for Food will be held this year on Saturday November 2nd and November 9th .   On November 2nd we ask that scouts come to the Bedford Presbyterian Church (Church Road, Bedford) between 8 AM and 12 noon to pick up the door tags and place them at the homes along the route they can choose.  The following week we ask that the scouts return at 9:00AM to the church to get a food pickup route.

The participation of all scouts is vital to the success of the food drive.

No Troop Meeting (10/31)

Posted on Oct 28 2013 - 6:43pm

Hello Troop,

Due to Halloween, there is no troop meeting on Thursday.  However, Patrol Leaders should still make their calls to let their scouts know that there is not a troop meeting.  Also when you do your calls, make sure to remind your scouts that Scouting for Food is this Saturday from 8 to about 2, and fill them in on how Scouting for Food works if they are new to the troop.

Thank you,

Andrew C.

BAKED GOODS NEEDED

Posted on Oct 27 2013 - 8:41pm

This Saturday, November 2, I will be holding a bake sale fundraiser for my Eagle Scout project. It will be from 9 AM-12:30 PM at Harvest Market. I would greatly appreciate it if you all would bake some type of baked good for me. I could also use some help running the stand itself, so let me know if you can help out for any amount of time. Just email the times that you can help to me at 14ahammer@derryfield.org. To donate the baked goods, you can either bring them to Harvest Market by 9:00 AM on Saturday on your way to help with Scouting For Food, or you can drop them off at my house at 219 Campbell Rd on Friday, November 1.

Scouts, if you are able to help me please do your route for Scouting for Food first.

Thank you in advance!

Austin H.
