OA Elections

Posted on Jan 25 2013 - 8:08am

Hello Scouts,

It is very important each Scout in the Troop vote for every Scout they think will promote camping year round. A Scout who goes on most camping trips and attends summer camp is one way to help you make this decision. This is why Mr. Dieter sent out the camping record of all the eligible Scouts who want to be in the Order of the Arrow.

In addition to camping you should vote for a Scout that you think provide cheerful service to others.

If you do not think any Scout in our Troop is worthy for the OA, then do not vote for any. But do not hand in a blank voting sheet. The voting sheet will be the eligible Scouts photos. You will be circling the picture of Scouts you believe meet the OA description.

The OA elections should not be a popularity contest. Simply do not vote for a Scout because he is your friend. He should meet the above description. If a Scout does meet the above description then vote for him. You may vote for more than one Scout, you may vote for all the Scouts being consider if you think they are all worthy. It is your vote. Vote wisely.

More instructions will be giving to you at the Troop meeting.

Purpose of the Order of the Arrow as stated on their website:
As Scouting’s National Honor Society, their purpose is to:
Recognize those who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and through that recognition cause others to conduct themselves in a way that warrants similar recognition.

Promote camping, responsible outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship as essential components of every Scout’s experience, in the unit, year-round, and in summer camp.

Develop leaders with the willingness, character, spirit and ability to advance the activities of their units, our Brotherhood, Scouting, and ultimately our nation.

Crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.

Missing Wick

Posted on Jan 20 2013 - 6:13pm

Hello,

When we went ice skating in December, I was handing out orders of t-shirts and wicks that had arrived.  There was a scout who had placed an order and I had it with me.  A parent offered to deliver it for me as said they see that scout often.  But the wick was not delivered.  If you have the order, could you please return it to me so that I can give it to the appropriate person?

Peace Light

Posted on Jan 19 2013 - 3:37pm

I am wrting to thank thoes Scouts from Troop 414 who volunteered to share the 2012 Peace Light with the community on December 16th.  I continue to hear back from thoes you served that day and I want you to know that both the flame and the sight of Boy Scouts devoting their time to spreading this symbol of peace have made a lasting impact on the lives of many throughout New Hampshire.

I wish you all much peace and joy in 2013.

Yours in Scouting,

Gretchen Osgood

Hey Guy's,

The earlier you signup for camping trips the better for us to plan the trip.

Please signup for the Klondike and other camping trips as early as you can.
